California Rock-N-Water

This location has 2 different trips:

12-14 year olds on july 21-26th

15-19 year olds on July 21-29th

For the 15-19 year olds are  adventure starts as we go backpacking into the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. This portion of the trip includes 4 days hiking and exploring  in the high country just West of South Lake Tahoe. Youth will hike through beautiful river canyons, jump off of rocks into deep alpine lakes, and challenge ourselves as we rock climb.  There will be a chance to overcome your fears as we rappel down a 90 foot cliff.

We will get to explore God’s playground, and challenge ourselves to grow in faith and leadership skills. In addition, we’ve set aside time for scripture study, campfire devotionals and outdoor challenges. Furthermore, the group will get to learn some of the basics of outdoor adventuring as they set up base camp and learn principles of “leave no trace” We believe this camp experience is simply… Unbeatable!

After we get back from Backpacking our adventure continues! We will spend two days white water rafting, 1 day white water rafting on inflatable kayaks and one day canyoneering in some of the most awe inspiring back country in the country! We can’t wait to get to know God better as we adventure in his creations with you!!!!

We provide all the backpacking related gear that your students might not have (including backpacking backpacks, tents, cooking equipment, rock climbing gear…). Preparing for a backpacking trip is as simple as getting ready to take your kids to any normal summer camp.

Regarding backpacking backpacks: If you or a student happens to own their own hiking backpack, then yes, we’d encourage them to bring it. Most likely your personal backpack will fit you better than the very nice, but not personally tailored, backpacks that we have. We also have a complete what to bring checklist to help make packing easy too. Note: We only recommend hiking boots if you are used to wearing them. In most cases, just a solid regular shoe you are used to wearing will typically be the best option.

For the 12-14 year olds we will have 1 day of rock climbing, 1 day of canyoneering, 2 days of whitewater rafting and 1 day of kayaking! This 5 day adventure is perfect for first time YWE participants! Each morning will start with scripture study and each night will be filled with campfires and firesides. This amazing trip will have you come home with a stronger connection with God, greater self confidence, and life long friends!
